The Fastest Growing Pool League in Arizona for 4 straight years! |
The Arizona Pool Leagues was created in February 2003 with our first session beginning on May 7th. The AZPL was designed with the average pool player in mind. We pride ourselves on being an amateur, beer-drinking, have-fun pool league. It is meant for the not-so-serious player to come down and have some fun, shoot some pool, drink a few beers (though not necessarily in that order) and win a little cash too!
We use a "the better you play the better it pays" format. We don't use a handicap system. You'll play the best and the rest on a weekly basis. We do use a "call ball & pocket" format of play to allow the new players to the game a good opportunity to learn it and still be competitive. Every team will win cash based on their respective point totals at the end of the session therefore encouraging you to shoot your best game and improve your shot. 1st Place overall pays out $250 while winning a division will pay $200 per team. 1st & 2nd place in each division will receive trophies. Every other team receives 10 cents a point. 125th place still got over $60 in prize money. Weekly dues are $6 per player ($7 if you are outside the Phoenix metropolitan area)
At the end of each session the top 72 teams will qualify for the State Championships and a chance to win $1750 based on their league win/loss records. Every match you win in the tournament earns prize money for your team!
There are several locations and divisions that you can play in. See the "Divisions of Play" page for a full listing.
The AZPL Site is updated at the least, weekly but more often daily. We keep track of several different team and player statistics including points, wins, 30-point games, winning streaks, match average and our own MVP rating in addition to many others. In addition to standings you can find out about tournaments across the valley, all the team schedules, visit each bar’s page to find their location and see their menu, view hundreds of pictures and read the rules.
We at the Arizona Pool Leagues hope you enjoy your time with us and look forward to shooting with you.
